Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS – What’s New

ubuntu

The third point release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, codenamed Noble Numbat, is now available. This update rolls all critical security patches, bug fixes, and software improvements issued since the previous 24.04.2 release earlier this year.

One of the most notable changes is the new Hardware Enablement (HWE) stack. Ubuntu 24.04.3 ships with:

  • Linux Kernel 6.14 – Backported from Ubuntu 25.04, offering better hardware support.

  • Mesa 25.0.7 – Improved graphics performance and compatibility.

  • Mesa-amber package – Legacy graphics card driver support.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

Several long-standing issues are resolved in this point release, including:

  • Vanishing Install button in Software Updater

  • Missing desktop thumbnail previews

  • Touchscreen input glitches

  • Bluetooth audio connection issues

  • Power alerts to comply with new EU energy guidelines

These fixes are included in the ISO, but if you’ve kept your system updated, you already have them.

Updated Applications & Packages

Ubuntu 24.04.3 also includes:

  • LibreOffice 24.8.7 (via Backports)

  • Snapd 2.68.5

  • Mozilla Firefox 141

  • Security patches and package updates across the system

Who Should Download This ISO?

If you already use Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and regularly install updates, there’s no need to reinstall. However, for new installations, the 24.04.3 ISO is the recommended version — it saves you from downloading months of updates after installation and ensures better support for newer hardware.

Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS keeps the Noble Numbat fresh with the latest kernel, graphics drivers, and bug fixes — all while maintaining long-term stability. Whether you’re installing Ubuntu for the first time or setting it up on new hardware, this release ensures the best starting point.
Support for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS runs until April 2029, with extended support options available through Ubuntu ESM and Ubuntu Pro.
