GeForce NOW Launches Native Linux App in Beta

Linux gaming has taken another major step forward. NVIDIA has officially released a native GeForce NOW app for Linux PCs in beta, allowing desktop and laptop users to access powerful GeForce RTX performance directly from the cloud.

Until now, Linux users relied mainly on browser-based access or a Steam Deck–optimized experience. With this new app, NVIDIA is delivering a more complete and desktop-focused solution designed specifically for traditional Linux PCs.

Built for Linux Desktops, Not Just Handhelds

Earlier Linux support for GeForce NOW was primarily tuned for the Steam Deck. That experience focused on handheld-friendly resolutions and capped performance at up to 1200p and 90 FPS. In contrast, the new beta app targets Linux desktops and notebooks, offering functionality similar to the GeForce NOW applications available on Windows and macOS.

As a result, Linux users can expect a smoother interface, higher performance potential, and better alignment with desktop workflows.

RTX Gaming Powered by the Cloud

Because GeForce NOW handles game rendering in the cloud, even modest Linux systems can run demanding titles. Players can now experience advanced RTX technologies, including ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4, and other graphical enhancements without needing high-end local hardware.

NVIDIA says the service delivers RTX 5080–class performance from the cloud, making visually intensive games accessible across a wide range of Linux devices.

New Games Join the Platform

Alongside the Linux beta launch, NVIDIA has added ten new games to the GeForce NOW library. Highlights include The Bard’s Tale IV: Director’s Cut and The Bard’s Tale Trilogy, giving players more options for a content-packed gaming weekend.

In addition, Team Jade’s Delta Force is set to arrive on the cloud platform on February 3, enabling players to jump into tactical, high-stakes action without downloads or local installation.

Expanding the GeForce NOW Ecosystem

Linux now joins a growing list of platforms supported by the native GeForce NOW app, including Windows, macOS, Chromebooks, mobile devices, smart TVs, and more. This expansion reinforces NVIDIA’s push toward flexible, on-demand gaming that works across nearly any device.

The beta Linux app is available for download now, and NVIDIA encourages users to explore its knowledge base for setup details and compatibility information.

With cloud gaming continuing to evolve, this release marks a significant milestone for Linux gaming accessibility and performance.
