Linux Mint 22.3, codenamed “Zena,” has officially been released. With this update, the development team introduces new tools for system administrators alongside several practical improvements. As a result, the release offers both usability enhancements and deeper system control.
Linux Mint users can now download and install the latest version across supported editions. Moreover, the update continues Mint’s tradition of stability while adding useful administrative features.
New System Administration Tool Arrives
One of the most notable additions in Linux Mint 22.3 is the new System Administration tool. This utility allows administrators to manage and customize the Linux Mint boot menu with ease.
Users can now hide or show boot entries, adjust timeout values, and add or remove boot parameters. Previously, these tasks required manual configuration. Therefore, the new tool significantly simplifies boot-level management. Additionally, the Mint developers confirmed that more features will arrive in future updates.
System Reports Renamed to System Information
Linux Mint 22.3 also introduces a name change. System Reports is now called System Information. While the name is new, the tool remains central to troubleshooting and system setup.
System Information helps users diagnose hardware issues quickly. Furthermore, it can install multimedia codecs and configure system restore points. The tool also gathers detailed data on USB devices, GPUs, PCI hardware, and BIOS information. As a result, both beginners and advanced users benefit from improved diagnostics.
Warpinator and Captain Receive Useful Updates
Several core utilities have also received upgrades. Warpinator now supports IPv6, which improves file transfers on modern networks. In addition, it introduces the ability to send text messages between devices.
Meanwhile, Captain gains support for installing multiple packages through apt:// URLs. This improves software installation workflows. Moreover, a new system tray icon now alerts users when a reboot is required after updates.
Backup Utility Gets a Practical Enhancement
Linux Mint’s backup tool now includes an Include All button. This feature allows users to add all hidden files and folders instantly. Therefore, creating complete backups becomes faster and more reliable.
Linux Mint 22.3 “Zena” focuses on refinement rather than radical change. However, the new administration tools and usability improvements make a noticeable difference. Overall, this release strengthens Linux Mint’s position as a user-friendly and admin-friendly desktop Linux distribution.
