RaiDrive for Linux: OpenBoxLab Brings Popular Cloud Storage Gateway to Linux Users
OpenBoxLab Inc., the company behind the popular Windows version of this cloud storage gateway, has launched a Linux edition. Announced on September 27, 2024, the new Linux-compatible version opens up file management options across various distributions.
The Linux release offers the same powerful functionality that Windows users have relied on since the original 2017 launch. This tool allows users to integrate remote storage services directly with their local file system, making it easy to open, edit, and save files remotely without downloading. By providing a versatile storage solution, it has become a popular choice worldwide, helping users in more than 200 countries manage files efficiently.
Broad Compatibility Across Linux Distributions
To ensure accessibility, the Linux version supports a wide range of distributions, including Debian-based systems (Debian, Ubuntu, elementary OS, Linux Mint, MX Linux, Pop!_OS, Zorin OS, and Raspberry Pi OS). It also works with RPM-based distributions like Fedora, CentOS Stream, RHEL, AlmaLinux, Amazon Linux, Oracle Linux, Rocky Linux, openSUSE, and SUSE Enterprise Linux (SLES). Additionally, APK-based systems like Alpine are supported.
This broad compatibility makes it easy for users in different Linux environments to adopt the software and its features seamlessly.
Key Features for Enhanced File Management and Collaboration
The new release offers useful tools for both individuals and teams. A Standard Plan allows up to eight mount points free, ideal for small teams or individual users. Other key features include:
- File Locking for Collaboration: This feature helps prevent data conflicts by keeping files in use inaccessible to others, especially valuable in shared document work.
- Compatibility with Office Suites: The Linux edition works with Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, and OpenOffice, allowing users to continue working with familiar office software.
- Multiple Language Support: With support for 35 languages, the tool provides a localized experience for users worldwide.
CEO Chongho Kim emphasized OpenBoxLab’s commitment to innovation, stating, “This Linux version was developed by listening to user needs. We will continue expanding our features to make our tools accessible on multiple platforms.”
Download and Access the Linux Version
