Stratus Expands Linux Capabilities with KVM Support for ftServer 12th Generation
Stratus Technologies has expanded its 12th-generation ftServer platform. It now includes kernel-based virtual machine (KVM) support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This update meets the growing need for flexibility and openness in virtualization.
Meeting the Need for Flexible Virtualization
Organizations today seek more control over their IT systems. In response, Stratus has added KVM support to give users greater choice in their virtualization options. Dara Ambrose, Vice President of Products and Solutions at Stratus, said, “With modern business complexity, companies need to choose the hypervisor that best meets their needs.”
With this update, users gain both flexibility and fault-tolerant reliability.
Combining Fault Tolerance with Virtualization
Stratus’ ftServer platform is known for its top-tier fault tolerance. It offers full system redundancy and proactive health monitoring. This ensures continuous operation, even in complex environments. By running multiple virtual machines, ftServer platforms maintain an impressive 99.999% uptime. As a result, businesses experience minimal downtime and data loss.
The addition of KVM support for RHEL 8.8 boosts this performance further. The update is available for ftServer models like the 2920, 4920, 6920, and 6910. Current customers can easily upgrade by downloading the latest release of the Automated Uptime Layer (AUL) for RHEL through the Stratus Service Portal.
Conclusion
Stratus Technologies continues to enhance its platforms with more flexible solutions. The addition of KVM support to its ftServer family allows businesses to consolidate applications while ensuring reliable, fault-tolerant performance.
